In English, we are promoting the love of reading and writing.

We are promoting the core values of the national curriculum through daily reading, spelling work, grammar and writing.

Children have daily lessons in reading, writing and SPAG and additional lessons in handwriting.

Throughout the school, we like literacy to centre around a quality text. Often, but not always, the text links with the topic the class are working on. Once a book has been chosen the class use this for whole class writing.

Beyond the daily English lesson, children build vocabulary skills through Word Aware work, communications skills in forest school, bell boating and writing for different purposes in cross-curricular subjects.
