The Nursery Class is a colourful, happy and exciting place to learn both indoors and outdoors. We look at each unique child and work with them through a tailor made curriculum to prepare for a smooth transition into the Reception class when the children move on from pre-school. Our golden rules of using kind hands and feet, looking after our things and taking turns are central to life in Nursery. We learn through a balance of independent play and exploration, supported play and planned teaching activities in line with EYFS requirements but based round our needs and interests. We are encouraged to be independent and ‘have a go’ to help us learn from our experiences.
We engage in both our indoor and outdoor classrooms and also make use of the school forest site, field and playground to support our learning and development.
LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT
We monitor children’s progress, celebrate their learning experiences and identify key areas for development with parents through using the online learning journal Tapestry. We see parents as ‘partners’ in their child’s learning.
