SEN

As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School we work in very close affiliation with the local Parish Church, St Peter and St Paul Upton-upon-Severn. Currently there is no resident Vicar and we are being supported by the Reverend Chris Moss, the rural Dean who is also sitting on our Governing Body.  In September we look forward to welcoming the Reverend Barry Unwin who is currently the Vicar of St James New Barnet in the Diocese of St Albans.  Barry is married to Carol and they have six children, three of whom will be joining our school community, Peter (3), Solomon (7) and Lois (9).

Our Church is a very important part of school life within Upton.  We regularly hold our end of term worships within the Church and also take part in many activities that are based within the Church.

Any other special events which we celebrate within school are also held in the Church, such as a celebration of Mothering Sunday when we all remember our Mother Church.  The children within school are aware that our Queen is the head of the Church of England and as such leads us in worship for the King she serves.

We are currently planning for the celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday and as a part of this we will be looking at the book which focuses on the Queen’s Christian faith (The Servant Queen and the King She Serves ).
